Trey Curtis will take on the lead role of Alexander Hamilton in the Broadway production of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Hamilton.” The actor, musician and rapper has been connected with the show since 2019. His initial debut was the special limited run in Puerto Rico alongside Miranda. He then performed the part of the revolutionary in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, Melbourne and, most recently, Manila — that’s across three continents and four countries.

“Joining on Broadway feels serendipitous after my incredible journey with the show,” Curtis said in a statement. “Hamilton is a magical role for me as a musician. If I can make just one person feel the way I felt after watching Lin-Manuel freestyle his Tony’s acceptance speech, then by god I’ve done a better job than I could’ve ever imagined.”

Curtis earned a BFA in acting from the University of Texas at Austin. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles and appeared on the Facebook series, “Five Points,” produced by Kerry Washington’s Simpson Street and Jon Avnet’s Indigenous Media. In 2020, he was chosen for the inaugural Sony Pictures TV Diverse Actors Program. As a musician, he performs under the alias Trey. His debut mixtape, “ImpactMania,” and album, “You Happy?” are available on streaming platforms.  Blending his passion for musical theater and rap, he created the “Revival Series” on Instagram, which reimagines Broadway hits as hip-hop remixes.

Based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography of the country’s first treasury secretary and set to a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, “Hamilton” has earned 11 Tony Awards, as well as Grammy, Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and a special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors. The musical, still the hottest ticket on Broadway, is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman and The Public Theater.

Curtis is represented by Achieve Entertainment, Benjamin Rubinfeld at Ziffren Brittenham and Shelter PR.
